Cedar Hill Stuns Duncanville to Advance to State Tournament

Dallas - Cedar Hill managed to overcome a slow start to beat 12-time State Champion Duncanville in the regional final Friday night.

For the second consecutive year, Cedar Hill was able to outlast a tough Duncanville team and advance to the final four in San Antonio.

The games first points didn’t come until there were just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Duncanville took the early lead in Friday night’s contest. A Duncanville lead would be a consistent theme throughout the first half, before Cedar Hill would ultimately earn the thrilling 41-36 victory late in the fourth quarter.

In the true tale of two halves - while Cedar Hill struggled to get started on offense, the Longhorns never lost stride. Neither the bench nor the fans would compromise on energy in Kincaide arena. Close attempts wouldn’t initially fall. They couldn’t convert at the free throw line, but it was obvious that the Cedar Hill team would not accept defeat.

On the other side - Duncanville dominated much of the third quarter and appeared poised to win the game and advance in the playoffs. They would establish a third quarter lead of 31-20 before the game made a significant shift.

After a very uneventful three quarters, Cedar Hill would finally turned it up on offense. They moved the ball more methodically and outside shots began to fall. Steals on defense even became more frequent for Cedar Hill. The Longhorns would go on a 19-2 run and never look back.

The fourth quarter was all about Cedar Hill’s aggression. They left Duncanville scrambling much of the final quarter and would go on to complete the victory before an excited fanbase.
