Winsome Prime Brings Savory Sophistication to Dallas
A deliciously swanky spot has decided to call Dallas its home and the city is all the better for it. Tucked away in Trinity Groves is the new fine dining concept, Winsome Prime. Officially opened April 16th, Winsome Prime is the successor to The Warwick Restaurant Houston, which was recently renamed Winsome Prime. Co-owned by legendary black restaurateur Rob Wright, Winsome Prime is more than a fine dining restaurant — it's a full sensory experience.
Rob Wright and his business partners knew exactly what they were doing when they chose Trinity Groves for their immersive new concept. “Knowing what we know about the potential resurgence of Trinity Groves and the revitalization that's on the horizon, we wanted to position ourselves to grow with the community,” explained Wright. “We are 'one of one' in that area in terms of what our concept is bringing to the table; therefore, we are intrigued about the opportunity--yet still being in close proximity to other popular dining areas i.e. Downtown, Bishop Arts, etc."

Upon visiting Winsome Prime for dinner, you’ll first notice the exquisite art lacing the walls of this dark and moody establishment. Whether sitting at the bar or lounge area, the space is open and airy, without sacrificing its intimate and cozy vibe. Painted in opulence, it offers that sort of 1960s cool that beacons one to sip, stay, eat and play. And so, you oblige.
From the names, to the taste, the craft cocktails are something special here. I enjoyed the French 50, a sort of twist on the classic French 75, but my favorite liquid libation of the evening was undoubtedly, My Last Two Dollars. Made with tequila reposado, infused with cacao nibs, Rosa Luna Mezcal, passionfruit syrup, lemon juice, chocolate bitters and a hellfire tincture, this drink is beautifully layered to create one bold and brilliant beverage.
When it comes to the cuisine, everything is elevated at Winsome Prime thanks to their culinary director, Jabril Riddick. The menu showcases a variety of steaks, southern classics with a dash of Cajun flair, plus a couple of sushi options. Appetizers of note include their crab beignets, made with beignet-battered crab, deep-fried and served with charred pineapple sauce and powdered sugar.
Oyster lovers are in for a treat with charbroiled shells stuffed and seared with collard greens. Entrees are diverse here, ranging from their Hawaiian Ribeye, and truffled lasagna to my personal favorite, their unforgettable, Snapper Orleans. A blackened snapper filet takes center stage over a bed of collard green risotto topped with their signature Orleans sauce, crab and shrimp. This is definitely a dish worth running the fork to first. And don’t forget to end your feast with something sweet like their decadent rum butter cake, “Mom’s” Carrot Cake or the French Toast Bread Pudding.
With its lavish vibe, craft cocktails and creative culinary approach, Winsome Prime is easily a must dine destination in Dallas. According to Wright, for now the restaurant will be open seven days per week with Saturday/Sunday brunch service gearing up in early June.
Whether you’re in the mood to catch some sounds in the lounge while sipping on a Flight Risk or sharing an order of truffle lemon pepper wings while frolicking with friends on a Friday, Winsome Prime is the place to be. See you there with My Last Two Dollars.
