Plano - For the fifth consecutive year - one of DFW’s more highly-anticipated fashion events graced the Lexus Box Garden of Plano’s Legacy Hall with an authentic celebration of Juneteenth.
The Juneteenth Fashion Show is the brainchild of one Leah Frazier and her company Think Three Media. The annual celebration of culture, fashion, history and so much more unfolded Friday evening before a sold out audience. The evening featured various vendors and live musical entertainment. The doors opened and immediately - the smiles, the dancing, the good vibes all multiplied.
Much to the delight of the crowd, popular media personality Lady Jade returned to serve as emcee. She was joined by fellow personality Micheal Shawn.
The fashion was simply brilliant all evening. Featured designs included: Annia Louisa, Crossed Hats, Do Your Work, House of Dasha, Indigo 1745 Collective, KishMe, Legacy West, Marta Ruiz, Military Glam, Saint Lamo, Tangwa and Tin Woman.
While the runway event is the highlight of any fashion show, this celebration of Juneteenth was complete with so much more.
In addition to learning about the many talented designers and new and veteran models - the audience was also introduced to the many ways in which Comerica Bank advocates for the community by bank representative Tiffanie Rice. Dr. Sidonie Niba of the African Think Tank educated the audience on the importance of the African and Black American connection. And former school administrator Deba Douglas shared how she transitioned into a very profitable career in real estate.
Cupid, known as the “Line Dance King” - provided a stellar finale to the evening, mixing new school with old school in his performance.
